Major Announcement LBEDU Luster Beauty International Education & Training Academy  proudly launches the new "Science Skincare Workshop", specifically designed for Hong Kong secondary schools' inquiry-based learning and STEM education directions. Breaking away from traditional passive listening, this workshop centres on "hands-on practice + scientific inquiry" to help students build systematic skincare knowledge while enhancing scientific thinking and practical skills. Registration is now open; we sincerely invite Hong Kong secondary schools, educational institutions, and related professionals to inquire about collaboration!

As a Hong Kong government-recognised institution and an official examination centre for VTCT (ITEC) and IQA international certifications, LBEDU has always been rooted in market demands,深耕美容與護理教育領域。This newly launched Science Skincare Workshop,经过精心整改優化, addresses the shortcomings of traditional skincare classes—lack of interaction, insufficient hands-on practice, and weak connection to daily life—by creating a more scientific, engaging, and practical teaching system. It perfectly aligns with Hong Kong's secondary education reform direction, helping students learn through practice and grow through inquiry.

Core Highlights|Tailored for Hong Kong Secondary Schools, Breaking Traditional Teaching Limitations

This Science Skincare Workshop, with "optimisation and improvement" at its core, focuses on four teaching objectives. Every part is meticulously designed to balance education and fun, allowing students to actively participate and engage deeply:

  • "Inquiry-Based Learning" throughout: Abandons long passive lectures and designs interactive testing sessions where students actively explore the scientific principles of skincare through observation, operation, and recording, cultivating scientific thinking.
  • Strengthened STEM hands-on elements: Incorporates simple skincare formulation experiments, organically combining science (skin physiology), technology (How to operate), engineering (Recipe preparation), and mathematics (dose control), aligning with Hong Kong's STEM education direction.
  • Close to daily life: All hands-on activities and cases are drawn from everyday life, addressing common skincare doubts (e.g., sunscreen selection, moisturising care, acne-prone skin improvement), enhancing the practicality of knowledge and self-learning motivation.
  • Collaborative group learning: Designs group activities based on students' learning differences, encouraging discussion and division of labor and cooperation enhance participation and communication skills., avoiding the problem of some students zoning out or having low engagement.
  • Full institutional support: Provides complete activity material kits, simplified lesson plans, and teacher training, enabling substitute teachers or new teachers to easily conduct the class, reducing teaching difficulty.

Core Content|Three Hands-on Stations, Learning Scientific Skincare Through Practice

The course adopts a "rotating station" teaching format, lasting 50 minutes in total. It is compact, interactive, and prevents students from sitting still for too long. Each hands-on station has clear learning objectives, allowing students to master core knowledge through control:

Hands-on Station 1: Sunscreen "Testing Station" (Inquiry-Based Learning)

Focuses on students' daily sunscreen doubts. Through testing, students directly  understand the differences between various sunscreen products and build scientific sunscreen concepts.group 1-2 ppl, equipped with complete test tools:

  • Materials list: Oil-absorbing papers, three types of sunscreen (cream, gel, spray), small mirrors, flashlights (or phone lights), plastic trays, tissues, testing record cards (with simple tables).
  • Three testing steps: Texture observation (evaluate spreadability, oiliness, white cast, and score), oil-absorbing paper test (observe oil halo size to understand the impact of oil amount on skin), light uniformity observation (test the evenness of sunscreen application to avoid missing spots).
  • Learning focus: Understand which skin types suit different sunscreen textures, grasp the core point of sun protection, and develop correct sun protection habits.

Hands-on Station 2: Moisturiser "Simple Formulation" (STEM Mini Experiment)

Integrates STEM education into skincare teaching. Students亲手调配 moisturiser to understand the scientific principles of保湿 and grasp the logic of combining water, oil, and humectants.每组配备专用材料:

  • Materials list: Aloe vera gel, plant oil (jojoba/sweet almond oil), glycerin, small measuring cups/bowls, stirring sticks, small jars, tissues.
  • Steps: Mix aloe vera gel, glycerin, and plant oil in proportion, stir quickly until creamy, observe the texture of the finished product, and discuss how different ingredient proportions affect moisturising效果 and texture.
  • Learning focus: Understand the roles of the three key moisturising elements (吸水,补水,锁水), master the logic of simple skincare formulation, and establish the scientific认知 that "ingredients determine效果".

Hands-on Station 3: Problem Skin "Little Doctor Case Analysis" (Collaborative Learning)

Combines common skin problems students face. Through case analysis and group discussion, cultivates students' analytical, inferential, and problem-solving skills. Teachers prepare complete materials:

  • Materials list: 6-8 case cards (covering common issues like acne-prone, sensitive, unbalanced oil-water, over-cleansing, pre-acne breakout), ingredient cards (玻尿酸,神经酰胺,水杨酸, etc.), solution record sheets.
  • Steps: Groups draw a case card, discuss and analyse the causes of the skin problem and the skincare habits that need improvement, select suitable ingredients from the ingredient cards, complete the record sheet, and finally send a representative to present, with the teacher providing scientific supplementary.
  • Learning focus: Identify common skin problems, master corresponding care methods and ingredient knowledge, and enhance communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.

Optimised Course Flow|50-Minute Efficient Teaching, without boredom

To ensure classroom efficiency and student engagement, this workshop has optimised the course, rotating stations to keep students interested across different hands-on sessions. The specific流程如下:

  1. Introduction (5 minutes): Through Q&A interaction,lead to students think about daily skincare doubts and facilitate learning interest;
  2. Hands-on Station Rotation (30 minutes): Each station lasts 10 minutes; students rotate in groups to participate in sunscreen testing, moisturiser formulation, and case analysis;
  3. Whole-class Presentation and Conclusion (5 minutes): Each group briefly presents their learning outcome, and the teacher summarises core knowledge to reinforce learning memory.

Course Assessment and Teacher Support|Ensuring Teaching Quality Throughout

1. Course Assessment Methods

To ensure learning effectiveness, the course uses three assessment methods to comprehensively understand students' learning status and participation:

  • 3-question quick quiz after class: tests students' mastery of core knowledge;
  • Group submission of outcome: each group submits test records, formulated products, or case analysis cards;
  • Participation Record: teachers record students' involvement in hands-on activities and discussions to ensure every student is engaged.

2. Teacher Support Services

LBEDU provides全方位 teacher support to reduce teaching difficulty and ensure smooth class operation:

  • Complete activity material kits: include all cards, step sheets, measuring cups, skincare ingredients, etc., no alternative tools;
  • Simplified lesson plans: suitable for substitute teachers or new teachers, with clear flow and fcous on point;
  • Short teacher training: takes only 5-10 minutes, conducted by professional instructors demonstrating the operation method of the three hands-on stations, ensuring teachers welly delivery teaching flow.
